Frequently Asked Questions

What does an OTR flatbed driver haul out of Wisconsin and Michigan?

Primary freight includes steel coils and sheets from Midwest mills, lumber from Wisconsin and Michigan forestry operations, heavy machinery from manufacturing plants, and building materials. The Great Lakes region is a major hub for steel, paper, and automotive parts — all prime flatbed freight.

How much does this flatbed driver position pay?

This position pays $0.55 - $0.70/mile per loaded mile with average weekly miles of 2,200 - 2,800 miles/week. That works out to $1,400 - $2,200/week per week depending on lanes and loads. We negotiate aggressively on rates — our dispatchers know what flatbed freight is worth and push for top dollar on every load.

What kind of dispatch support do I get?

Full-service dispatch. We find loads on DAT, Truckstop, and through our direct shipper/broker relationships. We negotiate rates, verify broker credit and payment history before booking, handle all paperwork (rate confirmations, BOLs, invoicing), and provide 24/7 support. You focus on driving — we handle the rest.

How often will I be home?

Home time is every 2-3 weeks with flexibility based on your schedule. Since most of your freight originates in WI/MI, we can plan loads that route you back through your home area. If you need a specific home time arrangement, let us know during the application — we'll work with you.

Do I need to own my own truck?

Yes, this is an owner-operator position. You need your own truck with active USDOT number and MC authority (or be willing to run under our authority). Your truck should be flatbed-capable with a clean inspection history. We handle dispatch — you bring the truck and driving skills.

Is there a contract or commitment?

No long-term contracts. We work on a month-to-month basis. Our dispatch fee is a percentage of gross load revenue — we only earn when you earn. No setup fees, no weekly minimums, no hidden charges. If it's not working out, you can walk away anytime.

Ready to Haul Flatbed Freight?

If you've got 2+ years on a flatbed and want a dispatch team that actually works for you, we want to hear from you. No contracts, no games — just loads and support.
