Watch Out for Ultra-Low Dispatch Fees

If a dispatch service is charging 3% or less, ask yourself what they're cutting corners on. Here are the red flags to watch for:

  • Hidden fees — promise 3% but tack on “technology fees,” “setup charges,” or “account management” costs
  • No 24/7 support — when your truck breaks down at 2 AM, there's nobody to rebook your load
  • No broker vetting — they book with anyone, leaving you exposed to double-brokers and non-paying brokers
  • Lock-in contracts — they need contracts because carriers would leave after seeing the low-quality service

With O Trucking, there are zero hidden fees, no contracts, and you can switch between 6% commission and $250/week flat whenever it makes financial sense for your truck.

Pricing FAQ

Common questions about our dispatch service pricing.

How much does a truck dispatcher charge?

For semi trucks (dry van, reefer, flatbed, step deck, power only), O Trucking charges 6% commission OR $250/week flat per truck — you pick whichever is cheaper for your weekly gross. For box truck and hotshot, it's 8% OR $350/week flat. Industry average is 10% commission, so even our commission rate is 40% below industry standard. On the flat rate, high-performing carriers often pay an effective rate of 3-4%.

Should I pick commission or flat rate?

It's math, not preference. For semis, $250/week flat equals 6% commission at $4,167 weekly gross. If your truck grosses MORE than $4,167/week, flat saves you money. If LESS, commission is cheaper. For box/hotshot, the break-even is $4,375/week gross. You can switch between % and flat anytime — no penalty. Most established dry van, reefer, and flatbed carriers come out ahead on flat.

What's included in the dispatch fee?

Both pricing options include: load finding, aggressive rate negotiation with brokers, broker credit checks and vetting, 24/7 dispatch support, rate confirmation and BOL paperwork handling, and load tracking coordination. No feature gatekeeping between commission and flat rate — same service either way.

Are there any hidden fees or setup costs?

No hidden fees, no setup costs, no onboarding charges. You pay only your chosen rate (commission or flat). Additional services like MC setup, compliance assistance, and accounting are separate and optional — see our services page for pricing.

Is the flat rate unlimited loads?

Yes. The $250/week (semi) or $350/week (box/hotshot) flat rate covers unlimited loads, unlimited miles, and full dispatch service. No cap on how many loads we book for you. Run 3 loads or 30 — the price is the same.

Do I need to sign a contract?

No contract, no lock-in, no cancellation fees. Month-to-month. Stop anytime. We keep you because the service is worth it, not because you're trapped.

Do I need to pay upfront?

No upfront payment. On commission, we invoice after load completion. On flat rate, we bill weekly. We work with factoring companies for seamless payment processing, and can help you set up QuickPay or Comcheck for fuel advances and lumper fees.
